FRIDAYS see many people painting the town red, but to the growing Red Sock community in Port Elizabeth, Fridays mean a little bit more than that.
Last Friday the Urban Sky Trust and the I Wear Red Socks on Friday’s campaign handed over a cheque for R20000 to 16-month old Hannah Marshall. The proceeds will go towards Hannah’s first cochlear implant which will take place in March this year.
Janet Pereira from the Urban Sky Trust said, “The Red Sock Campaign is a continuous Friday affair and we encourage people to purchase their pair of Red Socks and make their difference to a child’s life.
“To date we have 777 people wearing Red Socks in the city and we want to see this grow and Port Elizabeth become the largest Red Sock community in the world.we are almost there.”
April is a month of celebration in the Red Sock Community and a Red Sock Friday Golf day is taking place on Friday, April 20.
