FANS of the music of Simon and Garfunkel will be taken on a trip down memory lane with a music tribute to the duo currently being staged at the Savoy theatre by Vintage Productions.
The tribute “Memoirs: Simon & Garfunkel” is performed by guitarist and vocalist Aaron Nel and fellow vocalist Shanthan Pillay.
The first perfomance was last night with a performance tonight and tomorrow evening as well.
Hailing from Mpumalanga, Aaron Nel, grew up with the music of Simon & Garfunkel constantly playing in his childhood home. Along with Shanthan Pillay, who has performed at the Dockyard, Heritage and Barnyard theatres, this duo creates a unique harmony, achieved only by two musicians who have the same level of appreciation for the sheer brilliance, yet simplicity that is Simon & Garfunkel.
The audience can look forward to hit songs such as “Bridge over Troubled Water”, “The Boxer”, “Sound Of Silence”, “America”, and many other foot-stomping, hand-clapping, sing-along hits, as well as some of the more dramatic and poetic offerings from this duo.
The seating is cabaret style and guests can bring along their own picnic baskets, but alcohol is not allowed as there is a cash bar at the theatre.
The shows start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost R80 per person or R70 for table bookings of 8. Bookings can be done at Computicket or contact Monica at 00834718893 for table bookings.
