Port Elizabeth Express is a weekly newspaper covering community news in Port Elizabeth. In November 2008 the publication celebrated 25 years of serving the people of the Friendly City. A total of 90 000 copies are printed every week and distributed on a Wednesday to a readership of 315 000. The publication is bilingual (Afrikaans and English) and is distributed free of charge to homes in all suburbs of the city. The newspaper has 3 editions every week, namely Metro, Southern and Northern. The Port Elizabeth Express Indaba, which was launched as a monthly newspaper in July 2008, was relaunched in August 2011 as a weekly newspaper. The publication is bilingual (English and Xhosa) and it serves the Black townships in the Metro. PE Express Indaba is also published on a Wednesday with a distribution of 55 000 copies and a readership of 220 000.

Being a community newspaper only local news and people are featured in the Port Elizabeth Express and PE Express Indaba. The newspapers strive to be the eyes and ears of everyone in Port Elizabeth and there is a strong emphasis on community news that affects readers' daily lives such as municipal matters and crime news. Port Elizabeth Express and PE Express Indaba are also a platform for those who make a difference in the community they work and live in. School news, events and entertainment news are also covered extensively. Our popular diary/dagboek section gives non-profit organisations such as schools, churches, clubs and charities a vehicle to promote their events.

Port Elizabeth Express is ‘n weeklikse gemeenskapskoerant vir die mense van die Vriendelike Stad. In November 2008 het die koerant sy 25ste bestaansjaar gevier. Altesame 90 000 koerante word elke week op ‘n Woensdag versprei en die koerant spog met meer as 268 000 lesers. Die Port Elizabeth Express is ‘n tweetalige koerant (Afrikaans en Engels) en word gratis versprei by huise in alle woonbuurte van die stad. Die publikasie het 3 uitgawes elke week, naamlik Metro, Suidelike Voorstede en Noordelike Voorstede. Port Elizabeth Express Indaba, wat in Julie 2008 as ‘n maandelikse koerant sy ontstaan gehad het, is in Augustus 2011 uitgebrei tot ‘n weeklikse publikasie. Altesame 55 000 Indaba-koerante word in die tradisioneel swart woonbuurte versprei aan ‘n leserskap van 220 000.

Watter tipe nuus word gedek

Aangesien PE Express ‘n gemeenskapskoerant is, word daar slegs oor plaaslike nuus, kwessies en mense berig. Die koerant het ten doel om die oë en ore van almal in Port Elizabeth te wees en die klem word gelê op gemeenskapsnuus wat lesers se daaglikse lewe direk beïnvloed, veral munisipale aangeleenthede asook misdaad. Port Elizabeth Express is ook ‘n platform vir diegene wat ‘n verskil maak in die gemeenskap. Skole- en vermaaklikheidsnuus word ook omvattend gedek. Die koerant se immergewilde Dagboek gee aan nie-winsgewende organsisasies soos skole, kerke, klubs, steungroepe en liefdadigheidgsorganisasie die geleentheid om hul projekte en funksies te adverteer.
